Greetings, New Orleans food fans! This week, Ian McNulty rounds up 10 new restaurants you need to visit. The debut of a dining festival is set for Crescent Park. Starbucks fires a shift supervisor at an Uptown coffeeshop... but why?  Ian visits a haven for Indian street food, and a new taproom comes to the Lafitte Greenway. See why your slow cooker and air fryer are your best friends in this hot weather. And there's more! Let's dig in ...

1.  Ten to try.

It's been a roller-coaster couple of years, but even during the pandemic, restaurants endured. Since the beginning of the year, a clutch of new spots have opened their doors Uptown, downtown, across the lake and across the river. Here are 10 new spots worth checking out. 

2. Food fight!

From the makers of Top Taco, a brand-new festival dedicated to dining will welcome food fans next week to Crescent Park, 2300 N. Peters St. in the French Market District. Food Fight invites patrons to choose their favorites among foods and cocktails presented by New Orleans restaurants and spirits brands. Read all about it right here.

3. Wait! There's more.

A shift supervisor organizing a union drive at a New Orleans Starbucks was fired. The reasons are up for debate.  A high-end knife shop carves out a new space on Oak Street, and a griddle is the star of the show at Tava Indian Street Food. And a new taproom called Skeeta Hawk is landing at Mid-City's Lafitte Greenway.

4. The heat is on.

Nobody wants the oven fired up when the weather is this hot. That's why we love our air fryers and slow cookers. Stay cool and try these recipes for Shrimp Boil, Fried Okra and Barbacoa Beef from Judy Walker.
